Portraits of a CEO in London

CEO portrait session for Lyst in London

I shoot portraits for various companies around London (and wider a field) which are used by clients for their own marketing, on their websites and ‘about us’ pages and for their own marketing promotions. On this occassion I was asked to do some portraits of Emma Mcferran specifically for a publication, WWD, ‘Womens Wear Daily’. The brief was to showcase Emma and the working environment. Lyst is a fashon company, in that it works in fashion and shows what’s trending and ranking etc. I’ve used it myself to make shopping easier, filtering for style, budget and even percentage of sales in the online rabbit hole which can easily swallow you up. Lyst is not like a fashion house where you may have glitzy office, nice though it is. By its very nature Lyst is a tech company, so features lots of rows of desks and banks of computer.s However, there are some nice breakout areas for taking portraits and in particilar the boardroom and the interior circular corridor with its glass walls.

Featured below are the images that were selected for the magazine grabbed from a PDF kindly sent to me.

I liked the way we could incorporate the office into the portrait. Just a hint of the background and the glass offers a glimpe into the Lyst office environment and hints at a modern youthful space without dominating the main subject which of course is the CEO headshot of Emma.

Almost always, ‘Less is more’ with shooting portraits. I find im often removing distrations as apposed to filling the photogrph. Here the books were carfully placed as to not distract from Emma and to also aid the composition of the portrait.
